Interfaith & Non-Religious Ceremony Officiant
Serving everyone in love — every faith, every background, no judgment
Gust Bassianotis officiates interfaith, secular, humanist, and civil union ceremonies throughout Tampa Bay with genuine respect for every couple’s background and beliefs. His guiding philosophy — “serving everyone in love, never to judge” — is not just a tagline; it’s how every ceremony he leads is approached.
How Does an Interfaith Ceremony Work?
An interfaith ceremony honors two (or more) distinct religious or cultural traditions within a single ceremony. Gust has experience blending Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, and secular elements — and works with both families to ensure every tradition is honored without privileging one over the other.
The result is a ceremony that both families feel seen in — and that reflects the beautiful complexity of two lives and two backgrounds becoming one shared story.
What Is Included in an Interfaith or Civil Ceremony?
- In-depth consultation about both traditions and beliefs
- Ceremony script blending both partners' backgrounds respectfully
- Integration of cultural rituals, prayers, or readings
- Available for interfaith, secular, humanist, and civil union ceremonies
- LGBTQ+ affirming — all couples equally welcomed
- Marriage license paperwork handled
- Rehearsal included
Are Non-Religious and Humanist Ceremonies Legal in Florida?
Yes. Florida law does not require any religious component in a marriage ceremony. A civil or secular ceremony is fully legal and recognized, as long as it is performed by an ordained officiant (which Gust is) and accompanied by a valid marriage license. Gust can perform a purely humanist ceremony with no religious references, or blend in whatever spiritual or cultural elements you choose.
I attended this wedding as a guest and was so moved by Gust's words. He had clearly taken time to understand who this couple truly was. His kind, personal words matched their theme perfectly and broke the ice in the warmest way. The whole ceremony felt genuine and joyful.
